DHL announced it is now a primary express carrier for electronics manufacturuing services (EMS) provider company Celestica. Celestica will use DHL as its carrier of choice for express shipping within North America, and from North America to Asia and Europe.
Celestica will leverage DHL to better-support its global manufacturing and supply chain network, and to provide market-centric, customer solutions. Celestica sent surveys out to its people in the field who used several major carriers and found the need for a Company like DHL that could be more responsive to the Company’s needs. Celestica also evaluated suppliers based on financial stability, infrastructure, supply chain visibility and technology solutions.
DHL will be transporting telecommunications and electronics components, and finished goods to, from, and between Celestica factories; manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and consolidation points, as well as drop-shipping direct to customers. Celestica has manufacturing facilities all over the world, including: Bangkok, Thailand; Monterey, Mexico; Toronto, Canada; and Kladno, Czech Republic. The Company also has major consolidation points in Chicago, Illinois; Buffalo, New York; Laredo, Texas and Miami, Florida, from where material is forwarded to multiple international regions.
DHL has also been named the primary carrier for Celestica’s express shipments from North America to Asia and Europe where the Company has a large network of manufacturing and warehouse facilities. DHL express services will be used to help streamline the flow of Celestica products in these regions of the world from suppliers to manufacturing and on to the end consumer.
“DHL is uniquely suited to help large, global organizations like Celestica and its customers become more competitive by integrating global services and speeding time-to-market,” said Charles Brewer, executive vice president of Sales, for DHL. “Celestica is an excellent partner. We are delighted that they, along with many other multi-national companies, decided to take advantage of our comprehensive and growing North American operation to speed and streamline their supply chain and benefit from our flexible, customer-centric solutions.”
